Are you a sports club or organisation in Barcelona? Do you want a professional website with a .barcelona domain, completely free of charge?
Here at Barcelona City Council, through the Barcelona Institute of Sports (IBE), and Fundacio .cat we’re offering you the chance to launch your website very quickly and easily. The site will be a single page website, with a maximum of two languages and a menu featuring four sections where you can include photographs, a description of your service, contact details and location on the map.

You can request it up until 31 December 2023 or until available sites are all used.
Applications will only be accepted from sports clubs or organisations in Barcelona without a website or an obsolete site.

Follow these four steps to get your website:

This will take you to a form which puts you in touch with Nominalia, the collaborating registration company which will support you throughout the whole process of choosing and registering a domain and creating the website.
Fill in the application form
After checking that you meet the requisites, a professional from Nominalia will call you to start the process and choose and register your .barcelona domain.
Send the information for your site to be created
What information do you want on your website? Send the content to Nominalia a soon as you can so that they can start working on your site.
Launch the website for your club
Fifteen days after sending in the information, your website will be published. You can always update it yourself with the support of Nominalia.

WHO CAN TAKE PART?
Sports clubs and organisations in the city of Barcelona with no website or whose website is obsolete, according to a technical evaluation by the City Council.
WHAT WILL YOUR WEBSITE BE LIKE?
Your site will be a single-page website with vertical browsing and four sections: “Our club”, “Sports activities”, “Where we are” and “Contact us”. The site will also have a contact form, links to social media and the option of checking the location on a map. The website can be offered in a maximum of two languages (Catalan and Spanish). It will have the name which you choose (providing it’s available) with the extension .barcelona.
It will also include all the legal requisites on data protection (RGPD): privacy policy and warning about cookies.

IS IT FREE?
Yes! You will have your .barcelona domain completely free of charge during the first year, along with the design of the website through to the point it is published. This service also includes free website hosting of 1 GB, three email addresses of 2 GB associated with your domain and support seven days a week to resolve any queries about the service. Besides, it includes SSL, Cpanel, Backup and DNS.
IF IT’S FREE, WHY ARE YOU ASKING FOR MY BANK DETAILS?
When you’ve chosen your domain and you want to register it, you will be asked for your bank details as this is a standard procedure to be completed when registering any domain extension. This is a way of validating the details of the holder. You can be assured that no charge will be made in the first year and that no charge will ever be made without your authorisation (you can choose not to renew the domain and the website).
HOW MUCH DOES THE SERVICE COST AFTER THE FIRST YEAR?
All the services described in the previous point are free. From then on, the user will have to pay the corresponding quota. The price of the current service (including the renewal of the .barcelona domain) is € 47,80 + VAT. Nominalia reserves the right to vary the price of this tariff.
WHAT IF I WANT TO STOP USING THE SERVICE BEFORE THE FREE PERIOD ENDS?
You can do this by contacting Nominalia directly. No charge will be made but you will not be able to participate in this support programme again for a year. Once the service is cancelled, the website (unless previously downloaded), the domain and the associated email accounts will be lost.
WHAT INFORMATION WILL I BE ASKED FOR TO CREATE THE WEBSITE?
Logotype, sentence and description of your club or organisation, brief account of services, contact hours, hours, links to social media and photos. If you want the site to have two languages you must provide the text in Catalan and Spanish.
ARE THERE ANY REQUISITES FOR THE CONTENT?
Content must use inclusive and non-sexist language, offer a balanced image without stereotypes (avoiding images that reinforce gender roles), reflect diversity and offer a model of relational equality between men and women.
WHEN WILL MY WEBSITE BE AVAILABLE?
You can see the finished website fifteen days after sending in all the required information.
WILL I ABLE TO MAKE CHANGES ONCE THE WEBSITE IS PUBLISHED?
Of course. Nominalia’s professionals will take charge of building your site up to the point it goes live and from then on you can make any changes you need to update it. You can do this by accessing your own WordPress with the credentials given to you by Nominalia.
You’ll have online training capsules available to you, explaining how you can update the content on your website, with personalised support also available seven days a week for any doubts you have.
In addition, if you want the Nominalia team to make any changes you can request this from the control panel in the client area. This type of support costs € 30 an hour.
CAN THE WEBSITE CONTENT BE IN ANY LANGUAGE?
The website content can be in Catalan or Spanish, or in both languages.
